A client got in touch, requiring SAPs and Air Testing on 25 plots which were due to sign off just weeks away. Previously, he had used an assessor to complete the Design Stage SAPs, only to find at this stage he is no longer in business. Firstly, we had to assess the situation and make a plan, then execute it.
We started by gathering all of the information we would require to complete the SAP calculations. Once we had all of the information, we began the calculations. While my Energy Team were completing these, I began to book in dates for Air Testing all 25 plots. The Air Tests would need to be completed after the SAPs were calculated and the PEA (Predicted Energy Assessment) as this is where we find the target.
Once the assessors began their work, they realised they required some further drawings and so liaised with the client and worked together to ensure we had everything we needed. Thankfully, all of the SAPs were passing compliance, and I found availability to complete the Air Tightness Tests. Again, thankfully, they all achieved the required target.
Once testing was completed and the test certificates were passed on to the assessors, the EPCs could be generated and lodged, on the final day before handover!! It was tight, but we achieved it and are now supporting this project with further plots
