ATSPACE LTD's involvement in this project actually started well before the client reached out to us, on this occasion. ATSPACE undertook the initial air testing, which was carried out on the whole building at completion stage. However, the occupants have since raised issues with the contractor due to chlorine smells being present in some first-floor office spaces. The contractor got back in touch with us to see whether there was anything we could do to help. With the information provided, we were able to establish that the best course of action would be for us to undertake diagnostic air pressure testing in these areas using a combination of odourless non-toxic smoke and pressurisation to identify the leakage points and airflow paths within the highlighted areas. A visit needed to be arranged outside of working hours at the Leisure Centre. This meant that provisions needed to be made so that our engineer could attend between 22:30 and 06:30. Fortunately, we were able to get this organised and accommodate these very specific needs for the client.

Upon arrival on site, the engineer started the diagnostic test in each area by pressurising each individual room before identifying present leakage areas. In addition to the pressurisation testing, once the room had reached adequate pressure, our engineer also used a smoke machine and smoke pencils to provide a visual representation as to where the chlorine smells may have been infiltrating the rooms in question. The findings were documented in a photographic report, which now means that the client can make the necessary improvements at a convenient time for them. We have since been commissioned to undertake another visit using coloured smoke to check that the improvement works have quelled the problem.
