SAP Assessor - How Can They Benefit You?

SAP assessments are required to complete your build and the information received from such tests is included in your EPC (Energy Performance Certificate). All results will be forwarded to your local building control team. Your SAP assessor will determine the standard level of energy a dwelling will use on an annual basis. This is calculated by evaluating things such as the structure of the build, the internal lighting, renewable energies that may have been used and the heating and hot water systems. The standardised occupancy and usage will also be taken into account. All results will be submitted to Building Control and the final SAP assessment should happen at the ‘as built’ stage and the results are then entered into your EPC.

To ensure that you pass this test it is important that you receive the relevant help at the early design stages. The SAP assessor will work from detailed plans that you provide for them. Therefore if you employ an assessor at the early design stage they will be able to advise you on any alterations that may be necessary before the process has gone too far. This will not only save you time but it will also save you money in the long-term. The assessment is usually desk based and the assessor, under normal circumstances, will not have to visit the site to complete this test.
