A SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) is there to assess the CO2 emissions, energy costs and thermal performance of your home. This figure will then be incorporated in your OCEPC.

OCEPC’s are issued once construction has been completed. These are for new builds, renovations, and change of use. You will notice on your OCEPC there is a section titled ‘Recommendation Report', this will give you advice on where improvements can be made. You need to remember, the more energy efficient your build is, the less it will cost to run. So, it is not only more environmentally friendly, but it also saves you money.

As stated above, there are two stages to SAP Calculations. Design Stage SAP, which is completed, you guessed it, at the design stage. It is during design when it is best to employ an SAP Assessor to ensure you’re on the right track. Our Assessors at ATSPACE know what works, and what doesn’t. They know the tricks of the trade, and they have extensive knowledge and experience to pass on. If you don’t meet the regulations here, it could be a costly fix. Everything is always harder to rectify in retrospect. The next stage is As Built. Now, this again is as it sounds; undertaken once it has been built. Assuming you’ve taken the guidance at the early stages, this is really just a formality. This will ensure your build performs exactly as it says on the Design Stage SAP. 

The EPC is the output from the As-built SAP calculation displaying the energy performance of the new build dwelling.

An OCEPC (On Construction Energy Performance Certificate), sometimes referred to as a simple EPC (Energy Performance Certificate), measures the energy performance.
