Passive House Air Testing:
Passive House Standard is a voluntary standard established in Germany in 1990. Achieving under 0.6 Air Changes an Hour. This standard is there to ensure that the ecological footprint of your build is as low as possible.
Commercial Air Testing:
You will need a commercial air test to ensure you comply with the requirements set out in Part L of the building regulations. Take a look at our full suite of Commercial Air pressure testing services.
Air Tightness Drawing Review:
Desktop Drawing Review to identify potential design flaws and/or anomalies with the air tightness strategy. Best way to achieve a low air permeability come test day.
Ventilation Flow Rate:
Commissioning and Balancing: Ventilation Testing refers to Part F of the building regulations. Ventilation Testing goes hand in hand with air pressure testing. You quite simply can’t have one without the other.
Uncomplicated Compliance
ATSPACE undertakes smoke shaft air pressure testing to conform to the regulations. The test itself will check that the shaft is air tight, with a target of 3.8m3/(h.m2) @ 50Pa. When smoke is detected in a lobby area, the fire damper situated in the smoke shaft will open, and the ventilation hatch at the top of the lobby staircase also opens to allow the smoke to follow the air path down and up into the smoke shaft. The mechanical extractor, located on the roof, pulls the air up the shaft, expelling the smoke safely. Keeping the smoke shaft air tight stops the smoke dispersing in the shaft and into any adjacent compartments.
All ATSPACE engineers are fully accredited and with over 2700 smoke shaft pressure tests under their belt so you’re in safe hands. A smoke shaft test is there to protect you! In the event of a fire, a smoke vent system will remove the smoke from the building. A smoke shaft riser is a critical structure. The test itself is carried out to ensure that the system works correctly and effectively. You need to ensure there are no leaks, so the system can draw up the smoke successfully. The test is simple, but if leaks are found, you will need an experienced engineer to diagnose the air paths. Experience isn’t something we at ATSPACE are short of. With over 12 years in the field, we know exactly how to undertake such tests.

Smoke Shaft Air Pressure Testing - Questions Answered
How is an Air Pressure Test Performed?
Air pressure tests are common tests performed on both commercial and residential buildings. Knowledge is power and knowing exactly what happens during these tests can only help ensure you get the best from your build.
Do I Need an Air Tightness Test?
If you're building a new build property the answer is yes. If you're building a commercial premise over 500 square metres, the answer is also yes, you do require an airtightness test.
Can I Save Money on my Bills by Achieving a Lower Air Test Score?
The answer is simply yes, you can. If we can keep heat in your build, you won't have to work your systems so hard. If we can stop the infiltration of cold air from uncontrolled measures, such as holes and gaps in your fabric, then yes, we can keep heat in the home longer, which ultimately means lower running costs.
