You should carry out ventilation testing once power is available and you have installed the ventilation systems, which are fully functional and operational. The duration of the test depends on the size of the property and the number of ventilation units. 

Ventilation testing is part F of the building regulations. It is sensible to have the test carried out as soon as the system is operational, but not necessarily when the building is completely finished. If you have any issues following the testing, it may be necessary to carry out remedial or refitting works to rectify any issues. Obviously, any additional unforeseen works could impair the final finish of the building.  

Ventilation testing is carried out with an anemometer and an air flow hood. The anemometer is attached to the hood, and then the hood is placed over the vent to be tested. By using purpose-made equipment, we can verify the air flow measurements for all the extractor fans within a building. 

Once the Ventilation test is complete, a Ventilation or Extractor test certificate will be issued.
