Overheating can be a problem due to the way your build is constructed. Perhaps you have too much glazing, perhaps your build is getting more sunlight, perhaps you have built an air tight structure but haven't installed the right ventilation. There are many reasons for overheating, especially as we are now building more air tight. You need to ensure that your systems work with your requirements.  

To live in a build which can be prone to overheating can cause many problems for the occupants. These issues can be fixed with the right knowledge, but they shouldn't happen to start with. The best way to ensure you don't suffer with these issues is to speak to an assessor at the earliest possible stage. These issues are always easier to rectify at the early stages, before the construction is completed. These tests aren't here to trip you up, they're here to ensure your safety, comfort and reduce carbon emissions.  

Overheating can cause 

• •  High levels of discomfort, reduced productivity, and also negative health effects on people living in the property.  

• •  There can also be a higher risk of discomfort for residents who do not open their windows, for people with pets, and for people living in     noisy environments and unsafe areas or heavily polluted.  

• •  To have the windows shaded while there is direct sunlight, and to ventilate the house when there are low external temperatures, which       can significantly reduce the risk of overheating.
