What Are U-Values? 

There's a lot to consider when building, and a lot of testings you need to pass. You have two options, but the one we recommend is to get the help at the earliest possible stage to ensure that you avoid costly fixes. once your build is complete. If you'd like to go this route, speak to an assessor today. An assessor will be happy to talk you through the whole process.  

But what are U-Values? 

U-Values consider the loss of heat through your building materials in your home. This can be through: 

• •  Materials used

• •  Bricks

• •  Flooring

• •  Windows 

So, as you can see, from the list above, it's extremely important to get this right from the earliest possible stage. An assessor can advise you what materials would be best for your particular construction. As you can imagine, it is always better to find out before the construction has been completed.  

The U-Values themselves are measured in watts at the rate of heat transfer. The lower the U-Value, the better the result. If you have high U-Values, this means you have substantial heat loss in your build.  

The energy performance of your build, in its entirety, will be assessed in your SAP Assessment. You need to ensure compliance, otherwise you won't receive certification and your build won't be signed off.
